When Life Feels Unfair — God’s Favor Still Finds You

Life doesn’t always go the way we plan. You can love people deeply and still be betrayed. You can work hard and still be overlooked. You can pray and still find yourself in a season that feels anything but fair.

That’s where Joseph found himself — a dreamer who ended up in a pit, a slave who became a prisoner, and a man whose good deeds were often met with rejection. Yet, Scripture repeats this beautiful truth again and again:

“The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.” — Genesis 39:2 (NLT)

Even in betrayal, false accusation, and isolation, Joseph never lost sight of who God was or who he was in God. He didn’t collapse under the weight of his circumstances. He didn’t grow bitter, give up, or turn away from his faith. Instead, Joseph kept doing what was right - staying diligent, dependable, and full of integrity.

He was faithful where he was, even when it wasn’t where he wanted to be.

And that’s where the secret of favor is found.

God’s blessing followed Joseph not because of where he was, but because of who he was - a man who stayed connected to God, consistent in character, and confident in the Lord’s promises. Joseph didn’t let the unfairness of life define him. He stayed active and obedient, doing his best with what he had, trusting God with what he didn’t.

He succeeded in everything he did — because he was doing something.

Sometimes, when life falls apart, we’re tempted to sit down and give up. But Joseph reminds us that faithfulness is active. Keep showing up. Keep working. Keep trusting. Keep honoring God in the small, unseen moments.

Because when you keep pressing on — even in the unfair places — God can bless your diligence. His presence transforms ordinary work into extraordinary favor.

So, if you’re in a season that feels unfair, remember Joseph. God’s favor isn’t limited by your circumstances. His presence goes with you into the pit, the prison, and every place in between.

Keep the faith. Be true to who you are in the Lord. Keep moving forward — and trust that God will prosper your life in His perfect timing.

“The Lord was with Joseph and blessed him... The Lord made everything he did succeed.” — Genesis 39:21, 23 (NLT)
